There are federal, state-level international scholarships for disabled students. In certain instances, these funds are often available at the state level. The Federal Student Aid scheme, which provides several kinds of support in the form of grants, scholarships, work-study services, loans, and other means of aid, is a good place to search for federal grants for disabled students.

In certain circumstances, candidates must have a reported disorder in order to be considered for a disability scholarship. It’s worth noting that there are many international scholarships for disabled students available. These scholarships are provided by various organisations and are dependent on various requirements.

Before receiving a diagnosis, applicants will have the opportunity to qualify for one or more of these international scholarships for disabled students. Even then, evidence of impairment is still required before a person can apply for grants, financial assistance for students with disabilities, or something including free college tuition for disabled students.

The essence of the condition would have a significant impact on the types of loans, awards, and financial assistance offered to students with disabilities. Many scholarship or award providers give free college education to disabled individuals, although others can only provide assistance in some areas.

Let’s have a look at some of the top  international scholarships for disabled students

American Foundation for the Blind | Disability Scholarships

The American Foundation for the Blind offers a disability grant in collaboration with the American Council of the Blind. The two organisations teamed up to establish a scholarship for students with disabilities who were starting college as freshmen or higher. The disabilities scholarship is intended to help with the expenses of post-secondary schoolings, such as room and board, general fees, and tuition. To be eligible for the grant, a recipient must take full-time classes, maintain a 3.0 GPA, and serve 32 hours or more per week. They can also participate in school or group events.

The American Council of the Blind’s ultimate aim is to reduce the restrictions that are placed on those who are legally blind or visually disabled in any way. The association aims to create services for disabled people while also fostering awareness and mobilising leaders who can make a difference in terms of changing scientific methods and developing new policies.

The C.A.R.E.S. Scholarship

The Kentucky Hemophilia Foundation offers the C.A.R.E.S. (Cultural and Recreational Enrichment Scholarship) Program. The scholarship programme aims to provide resources for students with haemophilia to continue their studies as well as engage in cultural and leisure events. It is anticipated that by taking advantage of these impairment scholarships, students can gain restored self-esteem as well as the physical, social, and emotional growth they need to live their best lives. Per year, four $500 scholarships are provided to students who have haemophilia or are a close relative of someone who has the condition.

Cathy Cieslak of Louisville, Kentucky, was the first to sponsor the C.A.R.E.S. Program. She started the curriculum to support other students, including her own son, who was diagnosed with haemophilia. The ultimate aim was to provide students with haemophilia with cultural and leisure resources. Cathy aims to work hard for the Kentucky Hemophilia Foundation to include these international scholarships for disabled students.

The 1800wheelchair Scholarship | International Scholarships For Disabled Students

Students who utilise wheelchairs, scooters, or powerchairs for movement are qualified for the 1800wheelchair scholarship. Students who receive the award are required to work on their accessibility issues, identify places on campus where mobility could be a problem, and investigate what kinds of on-campus conveniences are accessible to them. Before a scholarship may be awarded, students must fulfil a general set of qualifying criteria. Per year, two $500 disabilities grants are given out.

In 1997, 1800wheelchair was created with the aim of offering accessibility solutions to people who needed help. Not only does the business provide wheelchairs, electric chairs, and scooters, but it still provides specialist guidance and technical support at all levels. As a means of giving back to others, they are trying too tirelessly to support, the organisation provides international scholarships for disabled students.

The Microsoft Disability Scholarship

The Microsoft Disability Scholarship, which is part of Microsoft’s Global Diversity and Inclusion initiative, provides disability scholarships to high school students interested in technology-related fields, including technical and academic schools. To be eligible, students must have an impairment as specified by the World Health Organization. Students must have a 3.0 GPA and show financial necessity. They must claim a major in engineering, law, industry, or an area relevant to engineering, law, or business. Extracurricular events, job experience, unofficial transcripts, three essays, and two letters of recommendation must all be included in the application.

The disability Scholarship is part of Microsoft’s Global Diversity and Inclusion initiative, and it is funded by the Seattle Foundation and charged to the recipient’s Financial Aid Office. Microsoft’s Global Diversity and Inclusion program’s primary aim is to reduce unemployment bias towards underserved demographics.

American Speech Language Hearing Foundation

The American Speech Language Hearing Foundation’s disability scholarship is only for college students and is meant to be awarded to a recipient who has completed the Student With a Disability Scholarship pathway. Learners must be full-time students earning a Master’s or doctorate degree. Candidates for the fellowship are invited to apply in both the research and therapeutic programmes. There will be 15 general graduation scholarships worth $5,000 each, as well as nine specific interest scholarships. Both of these are therefore worth $5,000.

Students who are already enrolled in a graduate degree programme are eligible for the American Speech Language Hearing Foundation’s grants for students with disabilities. Communication sciences and disabilities must be a direct focus of the curriculum. The proceeds would be used to cover educational costs such as fees, equipment, room and board, and so on.
