10. University of Calgary

8. Western University
Western University has climbed eight positions to hit joint 203rd in the world university rankings this year. One of the top research universities in Canada, was established in 1878 and had more than 38,000 students from 121 countries. 7. University of Waterloo
The University of Waterloo rose seven places in this year’s world ranking but stayed seventh in Canada. In the world rankings in 2021, the University of Waterloo ranks joint 166th, doing well in the employer credibility metric, where it ranks 85th internationally. The university, established in 1956, has three campuses and is a member of the prestigious research group U15.
6. McMaster University
McMaster University is 144th in the world university rankings after dropping four places in the rankings this year. The global faculty metric is where McMaster University achieves its highest ranking, ranking 83rd worldwide. The University of Alberta is in 119th place, dropping six places this year. The University of Alberta is home to 40,000 students and is composed of four campuses. In the international faculty indicator, it gets its highest score.
4. Université de Montreal
Overtaking the University of Alberta this year to snatch the fourth place in Canada is the University of Montréal. The university, a French-language public research university in Montreal, was founded in 1878 as the Université Laval’s satellite campus. It is officially autonomous and has more than 67,350 students, including 10,000 foreign students. It ranks fourth on list of universities in Canada.
3. University of British Columbia
The University of British Columbia ranks third in Universities in Canada and 45th in the world in the top three, after rising six positions this year. The University of British Columbia ranked 28th in the world for the academic credibility metric, strives to promote creativity and question the status quo.
2. McGill University
McGill University, based in Montreal, remains in second position in Canada this year, climbing four positions to joint 31st in the rankings. As well as Canada’s new Prime minister, Justin Trudeau, McGill University counts 12 Nobel laureates and 145 Rhodes Scholars among its alumni.
1. University of Toronto
The University of Toronto is once again the top university in Canada this year, jointly ranked 25th worldwide. In this year’s rankings, the university rose four places and won high scores across most of the indicators, particularly academic reputation, where it ranks 15th worldwide. It is one of the best universities in Canada.
It is always best and prudent to apply to at least three universities, even if they are in different locations abroad, even if you have set a specific target that you want to be a student at a certain university.
Remember what the Dalai Lama said: sometimes it is a wonderful stroke of luck not to get what you want. So if you get rejected once, or things don’t go exactly as you want, don’t be disappointed. Try to see the bigger picture and not allow you to be discouraged by any obstacle.
