Campuses
- Tempe campus
ASU’s Tempe campus is in downtown Tempe, Arizona, about eight miles east of downtown Phoenix. The campus is considered urban, and is approximately 660 acres in size. It is arranged around broad pedestrian malls and is completely encompassed by an arboretum. The Tempe campus is also the largest of ASU’s campuses, with thousands of students enrolled on campus in fall 2019.
- West Campus
Established in 1984 by the Arizona legislature, the West campus sits on 277.92 acres in a suburban area of northwest Phoenix. The West campus lies about 12 miles northwest of downtown Phoenix, and about 18 miles northwest of the Tempe campus. The West campus is designated as a Phoenix Point of Pride and is completely powered by a solar array. The campus serves more than 4,000 students enrolled in at least a single course.
- Polytechnic campus
Founded in 1996, the ASU Polytechnic campus serves more than 4,800 students and is home to more than 130 bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in professional and technical programs through the W. P. Carey School of Business, Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, and College of Integrative Sciences and Arts, and focuses on professional and technological programs including simulators and lab space in various fields of study.

The Downtown Phoenix campus was established in 2006 on the northside of Downtown Phoenix. The campus has an urban design, with several large modern academic buildings intermingled with commercial and retail office buildings. In addition to the new buildings, the campus included the adaptive reuse of several existing structures, including a 1930s era Post Office that is on the National Register of Historic Places.

How to Apply
Here are Some Simple Steps
- Complete an undergraduate admission application
Apply online with ASU’s Application for Admission or Common Application form. You need to submit only one application out of the two to be considered for admission to ASU.
To expedite the admission decision, self-report your high school grades in the application.
ASU does not have a preference for which application you use to apply. ASU does not require an essay or personal statement in any of these options.
- Submit the nonrefundable application fee
Arizona residents: $50
Domestic nonresidents: $70
International nonresidents: $85
You can pay using a credit card or eCheck at the time you submit your application or when you log in to My ASU.
There is no form, paper or code to submit for an application fee waiver. If your financial circumstances qualify you for an application fee waiver, you will answer a series of questions in the application that will automatically qualify you and post to your account.
- Arizona State University Official Transcripts
If you do not self-report your high school grades in the application, you must have your high school send an official copy of your transcripts to ASU.
If you have earned college or university credit, you need your official transcripts sent to ASU from the issuing institution.
- ACT or SAT scores
ACT or SAT scores are not mandatory for admission, but may be submitted for ASU course placement or as supplemental information. Have your scores sent to ASU from when you register for the test.
- Check application status
Once you’ve completed all these steps, ASU will review your application. To see if you have missed anything and to review your admission status, sign in at My ASU using your UserID, which is sent to you after you apply for admission.
- Fill out the FAFSA
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is used to award grants, loans, Federal Work-Study and certain scholarships.
