When applying for admission abroad, the statement of purpose is hugely significant. Universities require students to explain their successes, their aspirations, personal anecdotes that influenced them to become what they are now-all in an attempt to make a case as to
(a) how your target course can help you reach your goals and
(b) how you are the right candidate for your target program.
Since no two individuals have the same set of conditions, motives, and aims, each SOP, therefore, has its individuality.
We have received some requests asking for SOP samples from students. It is not advisable to use a sample SOP because there is a high risk of plagiarism sneaking into your writing. Your submission is likely to be rejected if the university finds any plagiarism throughout your SOP. We have put together a generic template and method for drafting a Statement of Purpose for your guidance:
We suggest students introspect and answer some basic questions before putting pen to paper, which can later be used in the SOP:
You can start drafting your SOP after answering these questions. It will usually have about four paragraphs. The first paragraph is the introduction and motivation behind your target course. In contrast, the second paragraph constitutes education and proof of your interest, making you a perfect candidate for that discipline.
In the third paragraph, your personal and professional goals will be mentioned and how your target university can assist you in this respect. And the last paragraph will explain why the target university is right for you, and detailed information such as mentors, facilities, course structure, internships, assistantships, seniors, etc., may also be included in this compelling conclusion.
Students can further develop it by adding a logical flow and making it more impactful once you have the first draft of your SOP ready.
Your Statement of Purpose for Undergraduate, Masters, or some other program is reviewed by UniCred's free-to-use Automated SOP Review tool.
Start by entering necessary personal information such as your name, phone number, e-mail address, etc. You enter your GRE / GMAT ranking, the target course, the target university, and the target country in the following step. Entering the SOP Draft is the third step. The SOP tool takes 2 minutes once you press submit to review your SOP and show the results automatically. Note that you will be required to log in (login details are sent to the e-mail ID you enter above for new users) to access the results-this helps ensure your SOP is confidential.
